Renter’s Insurance

I had a representative visit me the other day, we went over a few good topics.  After talking to my rep, he once again told me how important Renters Insurance is.  Now I know we all know its important to insure our personal property while renting , but do we all understand how important it is to also cover your liability while renting? He went on with his visit and told me a quick TRUE story.  A lady was renting an apartment and a fire broke out in the kitchen, she did not carry insurance.  The consequence was she lost a lot of her own personal belongings, and on top of that, she was responsible for the damages caused in the apartment.  This lady was being sued for over $20,000.  If she had only purchased a renters policy for less than $10 a month, ay least $10,000 of her personal property would have been covered and $50,000 of liability.  This is important, PLEASE think twice if you are renting and you  turn down renters insurance.                                                                    *Corina Gonzales, Office Manager/Insurance Agent.   Oasis Insurance
